Set to a soundscape of minimalist, percussive verses contrasted with saturated screaming synth chorus, Desert Shimmer is an abrasive comment on the danger that misinformation and bombast in the minds and mouths of people in positions of power pose to the vulnerable they should protect & laments the misery that it inflicts. Their flights of god sent fancy as insubstantial as shimmering mirages on desert sand.

Stoke up the fires, get the grand plan burning
Got the oil poured, swiftly, seize the mainline as warning
He points to the sky, eyes wide and wild, 
Captivating millions, he's delivering a sermon of dependence
Injustice, insufferable tolerance of heretical elements
in effortless eloquent style 
He bends all truth to his will, all minds to his path
none would ask who comes first or last

Dirt orange sun burns eyes and skin
Veiled wail pierce azure sky and still
They march to the misstep beat, 
That staccato hammer blow on percussion cap, until the bolt locks
Sand in eye and mouth and nose
Rotting flesh and blood and bone
Shattered, blasted, ripped and torn
The revolt born or war breeds scorn
And takes lives, no, lifetimes and more
